This page contains sound samples from locomotives equipped with after-market sound decoders from the major manufacturers. The same speaker and enclosure was used for each decoder used within the locomotive type. |

An Enhanced Base Speaker, 40 mm x 18.5 mm, was mounted in the shell for these samples. This speaker and enclosure produces better sound than the tank mounted speaker and eliminates the problem of metal debris being picked up by the speaker.

There are two QSI sound files. One is the normal GE sound that is not a high base sound file. The second file is the XB EMD file with Dash 8 notching. We think this makes a pretty nice GE FDL16 so we added it also. You can order the GE sounds either way on the QSI decoder page. The LokSound FDL-16 file is new and one customized by us.
